According to Vietnamese legend, Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ are the original parents of the Vietnamese people. Lạc Long Quân was a legendary dragon lord, and Âu Cơ was an immortal fairy from the mountains. Their union allowed Âu Cơ to give birth to an egg sac from which 100 children were born, the ancestors to the Bách Việt clans.
